Also worked for me. I'm not sure which part worked for me. I already had the latest headers installed so it was either "linux-source" or the "fglrx-updates" as previously i'd always tried the simpler...
The 2nd part in this post -
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12305917&postcount=11
worked for me.
As follows -
Yeah uninstalling the propriety drivers works (ATI) but just leaves us back at square one. Which for me is not a satisfactory square.
I'm thinking it can't be as common as you'd think as i can't find much about this.
Yeah anyway, this is really just a me too post. ATI 5870 on a clean 12.10 install.
Additionaly the reason I...
For what it's worth I seem to have found a solution to the extra problem Ellutu.
Now I should say I have no idea what I'm doing so If you're worried at all don't follow these instructions.
...
Ah me too -
I hadn't been sure that this was related to the fix i related though. Hmm. It would be good to fix that too.
I use a little timed shutdown app on occasion that still works so I...
I couldn't sleep, So i messed around doing some other stuff then had another bash. Seems to have fixed it. Now I'm not clever and can't be sure that my problems are the same as others but for what...
Same problems with dual monitor ati and what seems like a broken catalyst control center here.
Giving up for the night. Tried so many different things I think I'll just start with another fresh...
Asus P6T SE
Core i7
Radeon HD 5870
Clean install 64bit
Yes I'm not entirely sure I have the same issue as those others here. Right now having only just booted up a little while ago things...
Just a me too post.
Fresh install of 10.10 using the propriety ATI drivers. Not sure they are the cause but as people here are talking about graphics drivers a lot thought I'd mention.
I don't...
I found a solution that seems to work for me at the spotify boards. Set wine to run as win xp in winecfg. Rather than win 98 as it was set for me.
Just to confirm what jaycee said about newer ATI cards.
Using an ATI 5870 and two monitors had the same problem.
After trying with just one monitor in a specific dvi port the live cd booted...
Yeah I updated to the proposed kernel a couple of days back and it does seem to have improved performance a good deal. I hadn't posted back here about it because I was still trying to gauge that....
Muso? Pretty sure i'm not using any such repo and still have problems.
Cheers for the advice. :) I'd already tried that though and still 100% cpu. :( Sounds works allways did. Just hammers the cpu.
Never had any skype issue at all on intrepid or the previous release...
Hmm, doesn't work for me. Still at 100% cpu usage. Wasn't trying to use video.
Lots of errors -
jasidog@boxer-box-nix:~$ runSkype

Not in Ubuntu at the moment (Was doing my head in as there's also a big skype issue with pulse and I need it shortly.) to check exact pulsaudio version but whatever is standard jaunty 32bit yes.

Another useless me too.
Just a me too post. On 32 bit jaunty.
Just thought I should update this thread in case anyone else ever comes across the same issue.
I never did find the answer to the problem. Probably just wasn't clever enough.
However a few days...
Hi hopefully someone can help.
I have a DSL connection running through a netgear dg834gt router.
I've been running this for several years with several ubuntu releases and no problems.
The...
Hi again LinuxIsInnovation! :)
I have an Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS.
If I run the reconfig of the the display settings like you asked. All that happens is that compositing is turned off and my...
Well it's not conclusive because I've not tested for long enough. But it seems like when compositing is turned off the problem goes away.
Doesn't really give me a solution with compositing on but...
Thanks for the suggestions LinuxIsInnovation. :)
I know already that width or visibility (It's usually hidden till mouse over for me.) doesn't effect the problem.
I'll try a different icon...
