Hi ... updated my kernel to 4.14 and it basically forced me to dump VirtualBox. Is there any program that works with the 4.14 kernel yet ... or do I need to wait?

KVM should work. VirtualBox may not have been updated.
VirtualBox virtual disks can be converted to qcow2 (among others) for KVM and back easily enough.
