Yep, I've got the same problem as sergiom99......
I have no problem on instalation.. but when I tried to login.. I get an "Authentication error"
thanks
@Vignani: Your instructions worked great. Thanks.
However, after installation, I cant get it to connect. I get this error (scrshot attached).
Any other settings that need to be changed, to get this going? Maybe some of the others who have been successful with empathy can share experiences with any setting changes they have made to get this to work?GTalk0
Authentication error.
Advice, anyone?

UPDATE : I used my username@gmail.com and it seemed to login alright [basically added @gmail.com to the userID field and it worked. Woohoo!
Now, my sound card and me are having all sorts of problems!

This didn't work for me. I added the repository and reloaded, but when I select the telepathy-stream-engine, it says this package has unresolvable dependencies. What do I need to do? I'm running the 64-bit version of Hardy.
telepathy-stream-engine:
Depends: libfarsight0.1-3 but it is not going to be installed
